Girls Inc. LA Programming

The unique challenges girls face today are extremely difficult to navigate and overcome.

Unfortunately, most co-ed programming is designed using boys as the norm, meaning girls’ specific needs often go unmet in settings that are not designed expressly for them.

Our programming is designed to be the premier program
for girls in Los Angeles.

Girls Inc. of Los Angeles provides research-based programming to empower girls at critical stages in their development.

Our Program Pillars:

  • S T R O N G

Mind / body programs that encourage
girls to make positive choices for both
    their bodies and social-emotional
    well-being.

  • S M A R T

Foundational learning programs that spark curiosity, instill critical skills and nurture the ability to imagine and achieve a fulfilling life.

  • B O L D

Connected programs that foster sisterhood, self-knowledge, discovery of passion and self-expression to navigate the world with confidence and emotional resilience.

We are committed to ensuring quality programming, measuring our impact, growing sustainably and making a profound difference in the lives of the girls we are privileged to serve.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

In the early school years, girls begin to develop confidence as learners, and build the foundation for academic success. They also form attitudes about themselves in relation to school and their peers, family and social groups that can last throughout their lives.

Girls Inc. supports elementary girls’ success by helping them master foundational academic skills, practice healthy behaviors and build positive relationships with peers and adults.

We are committed to increasing our presence in Elementary Schools throughout 2022 and beyond, strategically adding schools in key under-resourced communities in partnership with LA Unified Schools.

 CORE COMPONENTS

  • Academic Engagement: We provide academic enrichment so girls increase their love of learning, improve performance in school and aspire to and plan education beyond high school

  • Healthy Living: We teach healthy living so girls are able to make informed decisions, avoid risky behaviors and take charge of their health. Our girls build life skills to set and achieve goals, and increase resilience in the face of obstacles, to live productive and fulfilling lives

  • Civic Engagement: Girls are given the opportunity to learn about and engage with a need the see at their individual school. Together they learn how to advocate for potential solutions

In middle school, girls learn to assert and express themselves, develop their self-image and begin to define their own morals and values. The middle school years are a challenging time for many girls, as they are developing their identity while facing many negative messages.

HIGH SCHOOL

In high school, girls gain a clear understanding of their context in the community and the world. They gain more independence, navigate increased social pressures, and hone their sense of what they want to contribute as they move into their future.

Girls Inc. plans to expand to high schools in the coming years.
